Maritime ports advised to keep hoisted signal 3

DHAKA, May 26, 2020 (BSS) – Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no three as steep pressure gradient persists over the North Bay.

“Steep pressure gradient persists over the North Bay. Under its influence, squally weather may affect the maritime ports, the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh,” said a Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) press release here today.

Under the influence of the steep pressure gradient and the moon phase, the low-lying areas of the coastal districts of Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhalokathi, Pirozpur, Borguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barishal, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and their offshore islands and chars are likely to be inundated by the wind driven surge height of 02- 03 feet above normal astronomical tide.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
