154 more Thai nationals leave by chartered flight

DHAKA, May 23, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 154 more Thai nationals who were
stuck here amid flight suspension due to COVID-19 pandemic left here for
Bangkok today by a special chartered flight.

A charter flight of Thai Lion Air departed Hazrat Shahjalal International
Airport (HSIA) here for Bangkok at 11 am this morning carrying 154 Thai
nationals, according to The Royal Thai Embassy here.

Saying that today’s one is the third repatriation flight to Bangkok from
Dhaka, the Thai embassy said it arranged the first repatriation flight on
April 17 sending 35 Thai nationals and second flight on May 14 returning 197
Thais nationals living in Bangladesh back to Thailand.

The Embassy thanked the Bangladesh foreign ministry, Immigration, Airport
and Airline authorities for facilitating the smooth departure of Thai
nationals.

Other countries, including India, the USA, the UK, India, Japan, Canada,
Australia, Turkey, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Bhutan, Myanmar and
different European countries also operated several special chartered flights
amid the flight suspension to repatriate their citizens from here.

On May 14, Bangladesh extended the ongoing ban on flight operation for the
sixth consecutive time till May 30 to and from all European countries and the
nations that restricted the entry of Bangladeshis to their territories as
well as on all domestic routes over the coronavirus fear.

Bangladesh also repatriated stranded Bangladeshis from different other
countries including the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia, Thailand, Singapore
and Malaysia.
