DHAKA, May 23, 2020 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader
has greeted the countrymen as well as the Muslim Ummah across the globe on
the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals of
the Muslims.

In a message, Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, prayed
for continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country’s people and the
Muslim Ummah.

The Eid-ul-Fitr is the largest religious festival of Muslims, he said,
adding that after a month-long fasting, Eid-ul-Fitr comes with the message of
joy and happiness.

Eid builds amity, harmony and unity among the people,” the AL general
secretary said.

This year, he said, the Eid-ul-Fitr is going to be celebrated in such a
time when the entire humanity is in a crisis due to global coronavirus
pandemic.

“Many of us have been infected with coronavirus and many have already lost
their dear ones due to coronavirus. Economic activities stand still…Eid
comes in such a time with the message of joy. That’s why we have to celebrate
the Eid staying at homes and avoiding public gatherings,” Quader said.

“Let us celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr maintaining mutual brotherly relations,
social responsibilities, responsible attitudes, physical distancing and
health guidelines aiming to prevent coronavirus infections,” he added.

The road transport and bridges minister urged people to share joy and
happiness of Eid through their mutual cooperation and sympathy.

He hoped that overcoming the coronavirus crisis, Bangladesh would move
towards the expected development and progress under the skilled and dynamic
leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
