CHATTOGRAM, May 23, 2020 (BSS) – Boatmen of the Karnafuli river and jeep
drivers travelling on different roads in Rangunia upazila received Eid gifts
from Awami League (AL) joint general secretary and information minister Dr.
Hasan Mahmud today.
The Eid gifts were distributed among the boatmen and jeep drivers on
Saturday noon who were in crisis due to the Corona virus through the NNK
Foundation, the family organization of the information minister.
Earlier, the officials of NNK Foundation first went to the Karnafuli river
Khawghat in Dewanjihat area of ??Chandraghona-Kadamtali union of the upazila
on Saturday noon and handed over the Eid gifts of the information minister to
the boatmen. During this time, these Eid gifts were also distributed to
several families in the local fishermen of Jalepalli.
The Eid gifts of the information minister were also distributed among the
jeep drivers in a simple ceremony at Dhamairhat V-Aid Public Club Hall in
North Rangunia this afternoon.

Secretary of the upazila AL distributed the gifts on behalf of the
information minister.
Jasim Uddin Talukder said that Dr Hasan Mahmud started distributing food
items among helpless lower and middle class families, unemployed and poor in
Rangunia through the NNK Foundation since the outbreak of coronavirus.
So far, more than 15,000 families have been brought under food aid in two
phases in all unions of Rangunia upazila on behalf of the information
minister, he added.
The Eid gifts of Dr Hasan are being distributed to the helpless
professionals including imams-muezzins of mosques, priests of Hindu
community’s Mondirs, Buddhist monks, van drivers, autorickshaw drivers and
all low-income professionals.
Officials at the NNK Foundation said the information minister’s food aid
would continue until the coronavirus outbreak is over.
