Air Force assists during post-disaster management phase of Amphan

DHAKA, May 23, 2020 (BSS) – Some 119 members of Bangladesh Air Force, who have been deployed in Satkhira, to assist the civil administration in post- disaster management phase of cyclone Amphan are providing welfare services to the Amphan-affected people at Alipur, South Alipur and Alipur Hatkhola under Satkhira today.

Following the directives from Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) has been continuing assistance to the Civil Administration in dealing with any national disaster in aid to Civil Power.

According to an ISPR press release, they removed fallen trees on roads to resume traffic movement. Besides,the BAF members also removed fallen trees on houses to make those livable for the cyclone-hit people.

In addition, Bangladesh Air Force team is working to supply safe water for the people of cyclone Amphan affected areas.

In continuation to providing medical emergency support, the Air Force team is giving medical treatment for cyclone hit-people in Satkhira.

In addition to the post-Amphan disaster management, daily necessities and Eid gifts were distributed among the orphans under the arrangement of BAF Base Zahurul Haque, Chattogram and BAF Unit, Lalmonirhat in the current situation arising due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

It may be mentioned that Bangladesh Air Force has kept prepared six transport aircraft and 29 helicopters to conduct disaster management operations after the cyclone Amphan.

In addition, Disaster Management Cell at BAF Base Bashar and Ops rooms at all BAF Bases of the Bangladesh Air Force have been kept open to provide necessary assistance round-the-clock for post-disaster management.

Bangladesh Air Force has always been providing assistance professionally in dealing with country’s any kind of national disaster.
