RANGPUR, May 23, 2020 (BSS) – Two bicycle riders were killed in a road
accident at Borati Mour point on the Rangpur-Dinajpur highway under Taraganj
upazila in the district this afternoon.
“The accident occurred when a Saidpur-bound truck from Rangpur crashed a
bicycle carrying two youths around 1 pm killing them on the spot,” Officer-
in-Charge (OC) of Taraganj Highway Police Station Golam Kibria told BSS.
The loaded truck hit the bicycle from behind and plunged into the roadside
ditch after its driver lost control over the steering.
The deceased youths were identified as Shariful Islam, 24, son of Tajuddin
Ahmed and Helal Uddin, 15, son of Khorshed Salam of nearby village Laksmipur
Mandalpara, OC Kibria said.
The youths met their tragic ends while returning home from nearby Taraganj
Bazar riding on the bicycle.
“Police seized the truck though its driver and helper managed to escape
the scene,” the OC said, adding that the bodies were handed over to their
relatives after completing necessary legal formalities.
