KHULNA, June 21, 2018 (BSS) – Five people were killed and at least 20
others injured in a road accident in Baratia area under Atlia Union of
Dumuria upazila here this noon.
Police and local people said the accident occurred when the bus driver
lost control over the steering. The Khulna-bound passenger bus skidded off
the road and fell into a road side ditch. The bus was coming from Paikgachha
upazila in Khulna.
Officer-in-Charge of Dumuria Police Station Md. Habil Hossain said five
people died on the spot while the injured were taken to local Health Complex
and Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH).
Two of the deceased were identified as – Mostofa Gazi and Shafiqul Islam,
both hailed from Koyra upazila of Khulna. Identities of the other victims
could not be known.
A fire fighter team was involved in rescuing the passengers, the OC added.
