73 fresh COVID-19 cases reported in Chittagong

CHATTOGRAM, May 18, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 73 people, including three doctors and two police officers, have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours in Chattogram district.

Of the new cases, 48 are residents of the port city and 25 are residents of different upazilas under the district.

Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi confirmed this and said after testing samples of 490 suspected patients at the COVID-19 laboratories in Chattogram, 73 positive cases were detected.

He said adding of the 247 samples tested at BITID on Sunday, 41 positive cases were detected. Forty of them are from Chattogram and another one was from Laxmipur district.

Meanwhile, a total of 33 people have tested positive at Chatogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) after testing 130 samples of suspected patients.

A total of 12 new cases were reported at CVASU lab after testing 87 samples in the last 24 hours, Dr Rabbi said.

Since the first case of coronavirus infection was reported in Dampara on April 3, the number of positive cases in Chattogram soared to 788 in the district in the last 46 days, he added.
