Govt to provide VGF food to 4.19 lakhs fishermen families
DHAKA, May 18, 2020 (BSS) – A total of more than 4.19 lakh fishermen families will get food assistance under the Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme for next 42 days beginning from May 20, this year.
“A total of 4,19,589 registered fishermen families living in Chattogram city and other 44 upazilas under twelve coastal districts will get some 23,496.98 tonnes of rice till June 30 under the programme”, said a ministry release here today.
As the government has imposed ban on catching marine fisheries during this time, so the food is being provided to those registered fisherman families under the programme.
Under the first installment, each fisherman family will get a total 56 kg rice (per 42 kg in a month) for the stipulated period.
