CCC to elevate Ctg airport road to 4 lanes: Nasir

CHITTAGONG, Aug 21, 2017 (BSS) – Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) has taken up initiatives to elevate Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport road to four lanes.

“The 8.3 kilometres road from Cement Crossing to Butterfly Park alongside the River Karnaphuli would be upgraded into four lanes”, Chittagong mayor AJM Nasir Uddin disclosed this at a coordination meeting with the representatives of 24 organizations and departments at CCC auditorium today.

The mayor said of the 8.3 kilometres long road, Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) would upgrade 1.39 kilometres of the road into six lanes.

He said the CCC has taken up the project to ease traffic movement.

“We have interacted with the concerned officials of the 24 organizations and departments and they have agreed to our proposal”, the mayor added.

He also said the area is getting a tunnel, outer ring-road and elevated express way.

“After the implementation of the project, the airport road will be more scenic to the visitors, tourists and airport passengers”, the mayor said.

The mayor presided over the meeting while acting chief executive officer of CCC Dr Mostafizur Rahman, Vice Commodore of Chittagong Boat Club M Musa, additional chief engineer of TSP Complex Mohammad Ataur Rahman, manager (administration) of Standard Asiatic Oil Company Belayet Hossain, Deputy General Manager (Operation) of Jamuna Oil Company Kazi Monjur Rahman, Chittagong divisional engineer of Bangladesh Railway Liakat Sharif Khan, Chittagong Port member Commodore Julfikar Ali and Chief Engineer of Chittagong Port Mahmudul Hasan Khan, among others, were present.
