Advance Rail tickets from August 18: Muzibul Hoque

DHAKA, Aug 17, 2017 (BSS) – Railways Minister M Muzibul Hoque today said the homebound passengers for the Eid-ul-Azha can procure their advance tickets for the train service from August 18.

“For traveling from 27 to 31 August, the travelers can procure advance tickets from 18 to 22 August, 10 days before their travel schedule,” he told a press briefing at his ministry’s conference room here.

The minister said the Eid advance tickets will be available from 8:00 am tomorrow under special arrangement in Dhaka and Chittagong railway stations. The passengers would purchase advance tickets on August 18 to travel on August 27, on August 19 to travel on August 28, on August 20 to travel on August 29, on August 21 to travel on August 30 and on August 22 to travel on August 31.

The passengers can also procure their advance train tickets for return journey from Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur, Dinajpur and Lalmonirhat stations under special arrangements from 8:00 am on August 25 to August 29 for traveling from September 3 to September 7.

“Maximum four advance tickets would be given to a person/passenger, while sold ticket will not be allowed to return. A total of 23 counters will remain open in Dhaka station. Of them, two counters will be reserved for women,” Hoque added.

The Bangladesh Railway has taken all-out preparations to prevent black marketing of advance train tickets at Dhaka, Dhaka Cantonment, Airport, Joydevpur, Chittagong, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Khulna along with other major railway stations.

“The Railway Police (GRP), Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), local police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) would provide round-the-clock security to prevent black marketing,” he said.

Besides, the minister said, mobile courts will be conducted with the help of the Deputy Commissioners. Activities of the RNB, GRP and railway employees will be strengthened further to prevent any untoward incident or sabotage at moving trains, stations or railways tracks, he said.

Apart from this, any kind of subversive activity will be combated with vigilance of the RAB, BGB, local police and other law enforcing agencies. “No goods loaded train will be allowed to ply except container and oil loaded trains before three days of the Eid,” he said.
