90,115 coronavirus protective gears distributed among Khulna doctors, nurses

KHULNA, April 18, 2020(BSS) – A total of 90,115 coronavirus protective gears including 25,307 PPEs, 2,231 N95 masks, 57,619 hand gloves were so far distributed among doctors and nurses in the division to save themselves from the deadly virus.

Director of Khulna Divisional Health Office Dr. Rasheda Sultana said, “We’ve so far distributed 25,307 PPEs, 2,231 N95 masks, 57,619 hand gloves and 4,958 disinfectants among the doctors, nurses and health workers in the division”.

She also said 32,220 PPEs, 18,701 hand gloves and 559 N95 masks were kept stock for distribution.

Meanwhile, a total of 5,272 people are now in quarantine after release of 13,796 out of totally isolated 19,568 persons in the division since coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak began in the country.

“A total of 5,272 people are still in quarantine as there are symptoms of community transmission of COVID-19 in the country, comprehensive steps have been taken to prevent further spread of the infection in the division,” said Assistant Director of Khulna Divisional Health Office Dr. Ferdousi Akther.

After 5 people were found infected with COVID-19 till April 14 in the division, 393 more afresh people were put under home or institutional quarantine during the last 24 hours as of 8 am today to prevent the virus’s community transmission, she said.

Among 393 quarantined persons, 331 people were put in home quarantine while 62 others in institutional quarantine, she said, adding that “Of them, three are in quarantine in Khulna, 70 in Bagerhat, two in Satkhira, 103 in Jashore, 20 in Jhenaidah, 96 in Magura, 36 in Narail, 31 in Chuadanga and 32 in Meherpur”.

A total of 272 people were also released from home or institutional quarantine having no symptoms of coronavirus during last 24 hours, she continued.

“Till April 14 last, a total of 5 people – one in Khulna, one in Jashore, one in Narail, one in Bagerhat and one in Chuadanga districts – have been tested COVID-19 positive in the division,” she said.
