CHATTOGRAM, April 17, 2020 (BSS) – The administration today arrested three people, including an OMS dealer, for stealing rice at Azadi Bazar of Fatikchari upazila.
Fatikchari upazila administration arrested a dealer of the government’s Open Market Sale (OMS) programme, Sarwar Jahan Babul, with four sacks of rice red handed while selling the stolen rice at Azadi Bazar.
Having information Fatikchari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sayedul Arefin rushed to the spot this morning and found that OMS rice was being stolen and sold to non-card holders at higher rate.
The upazila administration with the help of police arrested Sarwar Jahan Babul along with two buyers on the charge of selling and buying stolen rice of government’s OMS programme, the UNO said.
UNO Sayedul Arefin said a case was filed against them for stealing the rice of OMS programme. The dealer’s office has also been sealed, he added.
