Stocks close marginally lower

DHAKA, June 18, 2018 (BSS)- Stocks on the country two bourses–Dhaka Stock
Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)– closed marginally lower
today, the first day after Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

Trading and official activities on the bourses were closed from June 13 to
June 17 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of the
Muslims.

The presence of the investors was very thin on the trading floor of DSE
today.

Market turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 485.90
crore on the DSE. The bourse traded a total of 7.25 crore shares on the day.

DSEX, the key index of the DSE, lost 23.93 points to settle at 5,341.30
over the previous session and the DS30 index, comprising blue chips, followed
the same trend as it settled at 1941.87, losing 16.35 points. However, the
DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 1.15 points to close at 1239.33.

Out of 334 issues traded, 125 closed higher, 175 closed lower and 34
issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Top five gainers on the day were Monno Ceramics, BD Autocars, Alif
Industries, Usmania Glass and Libra Infusion. Savar Refractories, Dulamia
Cotton, Meghna Condensed Milk, Shepherd Industries and BEXIMCO Synthetics
were the top five losers.

In the port city, CSE also closed downward with the CSE All Share Price
Index – CASPI – lost 51.66 points to close at 16453.54.

The losers dominated the trading as 73 issues closed higher, 105 lower and
24 remained unchanged on the CSE.

CSE traded 29.5 1akh shares and mutual fund units worth more than Taka
11.84 crore in turnover.
