RAJSHAHI, June 18, 2017 (BSS)- After ending the three-day long Eid holiday including a two-day weekend, all the government, semi-government and private offices, including banks and financial institutions, reopened with low attendance of staff in the divisional city of Rajshahi today.

Attendance at the City Bhaban, divisional commissioner and deputy commissioner offices, Rail Bhaban, water development board, sericulture building, RAKUB Headquarters, RDA Bhaban, Barendra Bhaban, RMP Headquarters and Roads and Highway building was also thin as more than half of the officers and employees did not return.

Officials said this situation would continue for the next couple of days.

The offices and courts will get their old look back on Sunday after the next two-day weekend.

However, some people were seen rushing to their respective offices to dispose off their pending urgent works on the opening day today.

Meanwhile, festive mood is prevailing at most of the offices. Officials and staffs were seen exchanging Eid greetings and embracing and hugging each other.

The people went to their villages to celebrate the Eid with their relatives have started to return to their working places.

City streets still remain deserted, free from the usual chaotic snarl-up.

Many people especially the teenagers are still celebrating the Eid festival in the city.

They were seen visiting the amusement spots especially the bank of the river Padma with joy and enthusiasm making the spots overcrowded.

Braving the scorching heat and sultry weather thousands of people, especially children, poured in and around the city’s parks, historic places and other recreation centres to enjoy the Eid-ul-Fitr vacation.
