Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated amid enthusiasm in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 18, 2018 (BSS)- The holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious
festival of the Muslims, was celebrated here with due fervour, joy,
enthusiasm, gaiety and solemnity.

On Saturday morning of the Eid Day, streams of people including children
rushed to the nearest eidgahs, mosques and open places to offer their Eid
prayers braving the inclement weather.

Thousands of musallis at the end of Eidjamaats (congregations) offered
special munajats seeking divine blessings and eternal peace of departed souls
particularly their near and dear ones, continued peace, progress, and
prosperity of the country as well as greater welfare of the Muslim Ummah.

Main Eid congregation (jamaat) of Rajshahi divisional city was held on
Shahmukhdum (R) Central Eidgah at 8.00 am. Principal of Shahmukhdum (R)
JamiyaIslamia Madrasa Mufti Shahadat Ali conducted the large prayers.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, MP, Fazley Hossain
Badsha, MP, City Mayor Musaddeque Hossain Bulbul, former Mayor AHM
KhairuzzamanLiton, senior divisional and district level officials including
Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Noor-Ur-Rahman and Deputy Commissioner SM
Abdul Kader and local elites offered their Eid prayers at the main Eidjamaat.

The second and third largest Eid congregations were held at Shaheb Bazar
and Tikpara city Eidgah respectively at the same time.

Besides, some other big Eidjamaats in the city were held at Hatemkha,
Stadium Ground, Shalbagan, Alif Lam Meem Bhata Eidgah, Police Line Parade
Ground, Tikapara Eidgah, Mohisbathan Eidgah math, Upashahar EidgahMoidan,
RUET campus and Rajshahi University campus.

Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) decorated the city’s important points and
road islands with national and colourful flags inscribed with “Eid Mubarak”
both in Bangla and Arabic.

In addition to the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, the district, upazila and
police administrations took adequate security measures to celebrate the
festival in a peaceful way.

Improved diets were served to the inmates of different hospitals, jails,
ShishuParibars, orphanages and vagrant welfare centres in all districts on
the occasion.

Braving scorching heat and sultry weather thousands of people, especially
children, poured in and around the city’s parks, historic places and other
recreation centres including the bank of the river Padma to enjoy the Eid-ul-
Fitr. Zia Shishu Park, Captain Monsur Ali Park and Central Park and Zoo drew
huge crowd.

Children, young boys and girls wearing colourful dresses gathered these
places where small makeshift shops were set up to sell different homemade
foods and toys.

Eid gatherings of children and cultural functions were also held at
different areas in the city.
