Kamal reaches out foods to doorsteps of destitute

DHAKA, April 9, 2020 (BSS) – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today reached out food items among 1,000 low income group people, including daily wage earners, who are in dire need of daily necessaries due to outbreak of deadly coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

“Local leaders and workers of Awami League are reaching out food items to doorsteps of every distressed family in Hatirjheel, Tejgaon, Tejgaon Industrial zone and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar areas,” he told BSS over telephone this afternoon.

Kamal, also a freedom fighter, said party leaders and workers are carrying out awareness-raising campaign online about the government’s directives to follow the stay at home instruction and health guidelines to remain safe from getting infected by the deadly virus that has already claimed 21 lives in the country and around 90,000 across the globe.

As part of the government efforts to stand by low income groups during the nationwide lockdown triggered by Covid-19 outbreak, he said each family was given a 10-packet having rice, pulse, edible oil, salt and a piece of soap at his personal initiative.
