Emergency services, supply chain to remain normal during shutdown: PMO
DHAKA, April 9, 2020 (BSS) – The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) today issued
a directive, saying that some emergency services and the supply chain will
remain out of the purview of the nationwide shutdown declared in the wake of
the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.
“The following emergency services and the supply chain will continue as
usual during the government holidays and the restriction on movement of the
people that were declared in order to contain the spread of the Covid-19 and
in the public interest,” said a PMO notification signed by Prime Minister’s
Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus.
The services are:
Emergency services like electricity, water, gas, fire service, cleanliness
activities, telephone and internet and the vehicles and the people engaged in
the services.
Vehicles and people involved with healthcare services and transporting
medical equipment, including medicines.
Vehicles and the people related to the pharmaceutical industry.
Vehicles and people engaged in transporting essential goods, food grains,
baby food, milk and dairy products and animal fodder.
Vehicles and the people engaged in transporting agricultural products,
fertilizers, insecticides, energy etc.
Vehicles and people involved in producing basic products for livelihood,
including agricultural goods, fisheries and livestock, dairy products and
foodstuff.
Vehicles and the people engaged in the maintenance of those services.
However, the directives issued by the Cabinet Division and the Public
Administration Ministry regarding the general holiday/weekly holiday and the
restriction on movement of the people imposed in the public interest to curb
the outbreak of the pandemic will remain effective as usual, the notification
added.
