Foreign Ministry hands over 10,000 masks to AFD

DHAKA, April 7, 2020 (BSS) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today handed over a total of 10,000 masks to the Armed Forces Division (AFD).

These masks were provided for distributing those among the poor people and also for those AFD personnel who are assisting the civil administration in their fight against Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Additional Secretary Dr Khalilur Rahman, who is also the chief coordinator of the special cell for coordinating COVID-19 related information, received these masks from various Bangladeshi missions abroad and handed over today to the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division Lit. Gen. M Mahfuzur Rahman, said an ISPR press release

Evergreen Products Factory Bangladesh Limited provided these masks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the AFD are working together on various issues to properly implement the national guideline on COVID-19 as well as to prevent its spread.

Another ISPR press release said Bangladesh Navy spayed disinfectant throughout the day at the adjacent roads, footpaths and areas of the city’s diplomatic zone, Gulshan and near the US embassy.

Akbar Hossain Pathan (Faruk), MP, and other high officials of the Naval Force were present, among others, during that time.

Earlier, Bangladesh Navy distributed relief materials including rice, pulse, edible oil, sugar, salt, soaps, masks, potatoes among some 500 poor and destitute families in the city’s Bhasantek area.

The Naval Force members also conducting various campaigns to create awareness among people to maintain social distancing, staying at home and such operations of the Navy would continue until the situation improves.
