BD envoy for strengthening Bangladesh-India ties

NEW DELHI, Aug 17 (BSS) – Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali has called for strengthening cultural, educational and economic relations between Bangladesh and India.

“Bangladesh and India share a long history of cultural, educational and economic relations and it is imperative to further strengthen the mutually- beneficial bond,” he said during a visit to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Uttar Pradesh, India recently.

During the visit, he interacted with the students of the university, including Bangladeshi students, according to a message received here today.

Talking to Bangladeshi students, he said, “As torch bearers and goodwill ambassadors of Bangladesh, you should do your best to use the facilities offered by the university”. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Counsellor AFM Zahid-Ul-Islam during the visit.

AMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Tariq Mansoor welcomed the envoy saying the visit would open a new door of educational cooperation and exchange programmes between the university and institutions of Bangladesh.

The High Commissioner and the VC have exchanged mementos.

Dean of Students’ Welfare Prof Jamshed Siddiqui, Commissioner of Aligarh Subash Chand Sharma and Inspector General Sanjeev Gupta were present, among others.
