Police devises unique method in distributing food in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 5, 2020 (BSS) – The district police today adopted a unique method to ensure social distancing in distributing food among 400 distressed families of Badarganj and Taraganj upazilas of the district amid the much-feared coronavirus (COVID-19) scare.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Biplob Kumar Sarker devised the innovative method by making arrangement of sitting by food assistance recipient beneficiaries on the chairs put at every three feet distance on Badarganj and Taraganj Thana office premises.

Financed by the district police, every beneficiary received a sac containing five kg of rice, two kg of potato and one kg each of flour, onion, edible oil and pulse, one piece of soap and 500 gram of iodized salt under the food package.

On the occasions, the SP said the district police want to stand beside the jobless, poor, distressed, needy and helpless people by reaching food and daily essentials at their doorsteps to assist them in overcoming the prevailing COVID-19 situation.

“The district police will continue to distribute essential food items among the destitute people across the district so that they could get food staying at their home to ensure social distancing for preventing community transmission of COVID-19,” he said.

Urging the common people to stay at home, he said police and local administrations will reach food to the helpless people door to door without distributing relief in public under the present COVID-19 situation.

Additional SP (Admin and Crime) Abu Maruf Hossain, Additional SP (A Circle) Tayeb Md. Arif Hossain, Additional SP (B Circle) Md. Maruf Ahmed, Officers-in-Charge Abdus Sukur Mia of Taraganj Thana and Habibur Rahman Hawlader of Badarganj Thana were present.
