10 ventilators to set up in Ctg to deal with Corona

CHATTOGRAM, April 3, 2020 (BSS)-The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has directed all concerned to establish a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the General Hospital in Chattogram to deal with Corona.

A letter, issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, said that a total of 11 hospitals in eight divisions of the country, including, Chattogram General Hospital, have been asked to take necessary measures to increase ICU facilities as soon as possible.

Dr. Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, said that the government has directed all concerned to take necessary steps to set up 10 ventilators at Chattogram General Hospital to deal with the corona crisis.

“We have started to launch a 10-bed ICU facilities at the hospital as soon as possible as per the directive”, he said.

Rabbi said that the ICU facilities of two private hospitals– Parkview and Imperial– in Chattogram have been set to deal with the coronavirus-infected patients.

Earlier, the director of health in Chattogram informed that at least two beds with ICU facilities should be prepared by each private hospital in Chattogram due to lack of sufficient ICU facilities in government hospitals here.

BITID and General Hospital in Chattogram are ready to treat patients with coronavirus, he added.
