Eid-ul-Fitr tomorrow

DHAKA, June 15, 2018 (BSS) – The holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow as the moon of Shawal month was sighted in the country, the National Moon Sighting Committee said.

The committee took the decision after evaluating of data and reports from all the district administrations, offices of Islamic Foundation, Bangladesh Meteorological Department and Space Research and Remote Sensing Organisation, an Islamic Foundation press release said.

The moon sighting committee meeting was held in the conference room of Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mokarram National Mosque with Religious Affairs Minister and Chairman of the Committee Principal Matiur Rahman in the chair.

Meanwhile, all preparations for holding the Eid congregations have already been completed across the country.

The three-day public holiday began from today on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages wishing the people of the country ahead of the Eid.

The government has chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Fitr with due respect and religious fervour.

The national flag will be hoisted at government, autonomous and non-government offices and other important establishments.

Important traffic islands and light posts in Dhaka city will be decorated with miniature national flags and flags inscribed with “Eid Mubarak”.

Besides, designated government offices and other establishments would be illuminated in the night marking the day of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and private television channels will air special programmes on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Improved diets will be served in hospitals, jails and orphanages all across the country.

City corporations will keep open the children parks, allowing free entry of all visitors on the occasion of Eid.

The day will be observed in Bangladesh missions abroad too in a befitting manner.

The main Eid congregation in the capital will be held at the National Eidgah on the premises of the Supreme Court at 8.30 am where around one lakh devotees, including 5,000 women, could say their Eid prayers.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will ensure four-tier security at Jatiya Eidgah on the day of Eid-ul Fitr, installing closed-circuit (CC) cameras and setting up archways at every entry point.

Five Eid congregations will be held at the Baitul Muqarram National Mosque at 7 am, 8 am, 9 am, 10 am and 10.45 am.

Law enforcement agencies, including Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police, will ensure security in and around the main Eid congregation.

One of the biggest Eid congregations of the country will be held at Sholakia Eidgah Maidan in Kishorganj. All preparations have been completed for Eid congregations.

Divisional, district and upazila administrations and local government bodies have taken preparations in their respective areas to observe the Eid-ul-Fitr.

A total of 409 congregations of holy Eid-ul-Fitr would be held in the capital this year. Of those, 230 congregations will be held in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 179 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas.

A total of 230 Eid congregations will be held in 57 wards under DSCC while 179 in 36 wards under DNCC.

Around 254 Eid congregations are scheduled to be held this year at the traditional and temporary venues in the port city of Chittagong under the supervision of Chittagong Central Eid Jamaat Committee (CCEJC) and the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) on the occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr.

The two grand Eid Jamaats under the auspices of CCC will be held at Jamiatul Falah Complex Mosque at 8 am and 8.30 am.
