President, PM greet countrymen on Eid-ul-Fitr

DHAKA, June 15, 2018 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today greeted the countrymen as well as the Muslims across the world on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the greatest religious festivals of the Muslim Ummah.

In separate messages, they prayed for continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country and the Muslim Ummah.

President Abdul Hamid, in his message, extended his greetings and good wishes to the countrymen and all the people in the world on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

“Eid-ul-Fitr brings the message of happiness after the month-long fasting and practice of self-restraint. Eid is a joyous occasion for the Muslims. Let the joy spread amongst all and parts of the Bengal,” he said.

The President said people irrespective of their classes and professions living in the big cities return to their loved ones in the villages to develop bond of harmony, amity and unity amongst themselves.

“Let the teaching of Eid-ul-Fitr spread among all people and build prosperous Bangladesh,” President Hamid added.

Noting that Islam is a religion of peace and welfare, the President said, “There is no place for hatred-spite, violence and localism in Islam. Islam upholds the spirit of human values, mutual coexistence, absolute tolerance and equality,” the president said.

He expected that the essence and inherent significance of Islam for the human emancipation would widen further and the world be filled with peace and amicable behaviors.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, hoped that the practice of self-purification, restraint, amity and harmony of the Muslims in personal, family, social and state lives would spread everywhere.

“After the month-long self-restraint, Eid-ul-Fitr has brought the message of happiness and I would like to convey my greetings to countrymen and all the people in the world on this occasion,” she said.

The prime minister said Eid teaches peace, sense of fellow feeling and fraternity and help bond equality, friendship and harmony forgetting the hatred and violent activities.

She prayed to Almighty Allah for continued peace, progress and welfare of the people of the country and of Muslim Ummah.

“Eid-ul-Fitr would bring message of happiness to all, irrespective of rich and poor,” Sheikh Hasina added.

The premier wished development, progress and continuous peace of her dearest homeland Bangladesh as well as the Muslim Ummah.
