Jumatul Wida observed across country

DHAKA, June 15, 2018 (BSS) – The Muslim devotees across the country today observed the Jumatul Wida, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, with traditional religious zeal and reverence.

Jumatul Wida has a special significance since it is a prelude to the departure of the holy month of Ramadan and the day considered the harbinger of the end of the showering of divine blessings that characterises the holy month.

A large number of fasting devotees attended Juma prayers at mosques across the country. The biggest congregation was held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital.

Special munajats were offered seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the country and the unity of the Muslim Ummah.

During the Juma prayers, imams and khatibs delivered sermons on the importance of Ramadan, Eitekaf, Eid-ul-Fitr and other religious issues, and exhorted the faithful to submit themselves to the will of Almighty Allah. Special security arrangements were made by the government to ensure the safety of people offering prayers inside mosques.

Ulema and the religious leaders called for greater Muslim unity and making joint struggles for the emancipation of the Muslim world.

Prayers also offered for the independence of Kashmir, Palestine, and other parts of the world where Muslims are engaged in the struggle for their right to self-determination.
