China-South Asia Expo begins in Kunming
KUNMING, China, June 15, 2018 (BSS) – The 5th China-South Asia Exposition
and the 25th Kunming Import and Export Fair began here Thursday at the
Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
“This is a platform which will strengthen the trade, investment and
cultural relationship among China and the South-Asian nations,” Chinese
Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier
of the People’s Republic of China Hu Chunhua told the inaugural function of
the expositions.
Governor of the Yunnan Province and Deputy Secretary of the CPC Yunnan
Provincial Committee Ruan Chengfa chaired the inauguration session while
secretary of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing
Committee of Yunnan Provincial People’s Congress Chen Hao and deputy minister
of the China Commerce Ministry Gao Yan, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Referring to the China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative, Hu Chunhua said
it will ensure a win-win situation for the countries of this region. He
expressed the hope that the expositions will open a new area to extend
further the cooperation and boost up the economic activities in this region.
The China-South Asia Exposition is being organized by the Chinese Commerce
Ministry and the Government of Yunnan Province and co-hosted by the
commercial authorities of the South Asian countries.
Kunming Import and Export Fair is being organized by the Chinese Commerce
Ministry and the governments of the People’s Yunnan Province, Sichuan
Province, Chongqing Municipality, Guizhou Province, Sichuan Province,
Chongqing Municipality, Guizhou Province, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,
Tibet Autonomous Region and Chengdu Municipality.
The main objective of the seven-day event is to strengthen bilateral and
multi-lateral trade among China and the South Asian countries, including
Bangladesh.
A number of seminars, bilateral and multi-lateral talks and business-to-
business meetings are being held on the sidelines of the trade fair.
The events are the China-South Asia Business Forum, the ASEAN Overseas
Chinese Entrepreneurs Conference and the Conference on Cooperation of BCIM
Chamber of Commerce Alliance.
The main objective of the China-South Asia Expo is to ensure ‘win-win
cooperation through amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness’ at
the level of strategic cooperation while the theme of China Kunming Import
and Export Commodities Fair is ‘creating new opportunities for new
development’.
This year 16 Bangladeshi entrepreneurs are participating in the exhibitions
for showcasing their products, mainly clothing and handicrafts.
The business entities are Hridoy Silk Kuthir and Industries, Join
Handicrafts, Oshin Enterprise, Naya Craft, Nishorgi, Style File, Rupantor,
Ittadi Handicrafts, Lights Creation, Trade Breeze, Nakshi International,
Sunbird Trading Company, Alif Handicrafts, Asian 1-99, Design by Rubina and
Tasmi’ya Fasion House.
The first China-South Asia Cooperation Forum has also been inaugurated at
the ceremony.
