DHAKA, March 16, 2020 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid will pay homage to
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman tomorrow marking the
birthday of the greatest leader of Bangalee nation and the National
Children’s Day.

The day is very significant for Bangalees as the nation is set to
celebrate the day as part of the various programmes slated for the ‘Mujib
Barsha’, the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu, who was
born at Tungipara in Gopalganj on March 17, 1920.

But due to the recent worldwide outbreak of the fatal disease COVID-19
(Coronavirus), the ‘Mujib Year’ programmes were curtailed to avoid any sorts
of mass gatherings fearing the contagious disease.

to Father of the Nation by placing a wreath at his mazar (mausoleum) at
Tungipara tomorrow morning.

A smartly turned-out contingent drawn from Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air
Force will give a guard of honour to the President on the occasion.

The head of the state will offer Fateha there seeking eternal peace of the
departed soul of Bangabandhu and other family members, who were brutally
killed by a group of disgruntled army personnel on the fateful night of
August 15 in 1975.

President Hamid is scheduled to sign the visitor’s book kept on the mazar
premises.

On his arrival there, President Abdul Hamid will be received by Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina and senior politicians, President Press Secretary
Joynal Abedin told BSS today.

Later, in the evening, the President recorded speech will be telecast in
the radio and television on the occasion immediately after 8pm.

Earlier, the President will arrange a milad mahfil and discussion at
Bangabhaban in the evening Abedin added.
