Fire at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport

DHAKA, Aug 11, 2017 (BSS)-A fire broke out at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport this afternoon.

“The fire broke out at the office of Air India located on the second floor of the terminal-2 around 1.30pm,” ASP (media) Airport Armed Police Battalion Tarique Ahmed told BSS.

“No casualty was reported. All activities at the airport remain suspended following the fire,” he said.

The airport unit of Fire Service and Civil Defense rushed to the spot just after breaking out the fire, Senor Instruction officer of Uttara Fire Service Shafiqul Islam said.

Being informed, 10 units of fire service rushed to the spot from adjacent fire stations. “Currently, all the units of firefighters are trying to extinguish the fire,” he said.

The airport authorities are is not allowing any passengers to enter the airport right now, our correspondent reported.

All departure flight operations have been slowed down due to the fire, airport officials said.
