KHULNA, March 04, 2020 (BSS) – Khulna Civil Surgeon Office and Khulna City Corporation Authorities has set up a target to de-worming tablet for a total of 5, 40,268 children of 2,814 educational institutions in the Khulna city and district from April 4 to April 9, 2020.
Khulna Civil Surgeon Office set the target to be administered a total of 3, 82,908 children to aged between 5 to 12 years and aged between 12 to 16 of 2,223 government and others educational institutions while Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has set up a target to be administered a one de-worming tablet to a total of 1, 57.360 children aged between 5 to12 years and aged between 12 to 16 of 591 educational institution during the campaign in the city.
The information was disclosed today (Wednesday) at an advocacy meeting held at School Health Clinic in the city with Khulna civil surgeon Dr. Sujat Ahmed in the chair. Children Specialist Dr Md Sorafat Hussain explain the program with power point presentation.
Khulna Civil Surgeon Office organized the meeting with the assistance of the Department of Health under Phailoriasis uproot and de-warming control programme
The civil surgeon stressed the need for worming free children and boys for ensuring healthy society.
Dr. Sujat Ahmed urged the authority concerned to inform the children earlier who will be administered de-warming tablet at every educational institution.
Terming de-warming disturbed physical and psychological growth of children, he said, de-warming tablet to be administered twice in a year among the 5 to 12 aged children and 12 to 16 aged and dropout students both primary and secondary level school and madrasa across the country.
Apart from this, he mentioned that worm infestations causes weight loss and poor growth and anemia leading to poor educational achievement and productivity.
