COX’S BAZAR, March 2, 2020 (BSS) – Seven alleged dacoits were killed in a
gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a jungle in Jadimora-Mosni area
under Takenaf Upazila of the district early today.
A team of elite anti-crime force cordoned off the area at early hours of
today responding to a secret information about the presence of a gang of
robbers, a RAB official familiar with the drive said.
Sensing the presence of the RAB personnel, the armed dacoits opened fire
on them, prompting the law enforcers to respond with gunshots targeting the
dacoits, triggering a gunfight between them, he said.
At one stage of gunfight, seven hoodlums were caught in the line of fire
and killed on the spot, the official said, adding that their other
accomplices fled the scene immediately leaving behind them.
RAB and local police suspected that the slain dacoits might have been the
members of a Rohingya terrorists group.
