Kits to be used in checking coronavirus: Maleque

DHAKA, Feb 25, 2020 (BSS) – Aiming to prevent the novel coronavirus, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque today said the China government has given treatment protocol and additional 500 kits to Bangladesh to check coronavirus.

“Apart from local treatment protocol and kits, the Chinese treatment protocol and additional 500 kits will help us prevent the novel coronavirus,” he said at a distribution ceremony of treatment protocol guide books and kits.

The ceremony was held at the conference room of health ministry at the secretariat here.

Mentioning that the country has taken all-out preparation to check coronavirus outbreak, he said the health sector remains vigilant about the concerned outbreak as more than three lakh people were gone through screening process at the time of their arrival in the country from abroad as of now from January 21.

If people are infected with COVID-19 in the country, they will be sent to Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital in the capital for better treatment, he said. This hospital is ready for this purpose, he added.

He assured people of not being worried about the outbreak because the country has 2000 local kits along with Chinese kits for conducting treatment.

Chinese ambassador in Dhaka Li Jiming handed over 500 corona kits and treatment protocol to the health minister during the ceremony.

Secretary to the Health Service Division Md Asadul Islam, Director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora and officials from both countries were also present.
