Indian Envoy meets JS Speaker

DHAKA, Feb 25, 2020 (BSS)- Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva
Ganguli Das today paid a courtesy call on Jatiya Sangsad Speaker (JS) Dr
Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury at the latter’s office here.

During the meeting, they discussed the celebration of Mujib Year and
golden jubilee of independence of Bangladesh and the forthcoming visit of the
speaker to India, said a press release issued here.

Dr Shirin said that the parliament is going to celebrate the Mujib Year
in a befitting manner and with great enthusiasm. She also said apart from the
special session to be held on 22-23 March, parliament will host special
seminars, special publications and Shishu Mela, said the release.

“The younger generation will be inspired by this and they will gain a
more transparent and profound knowledge about Bangabandhu and independence,”
she added.

Bangladesh is celebrating the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman and 50 years of Independence which is a great honor for all
Bengalis, Reeva Ganguly said.

The Indian envoy said, “The greatness of Bangabandhu is a great example
and inspiration for the people of the world beyond the boundaries of
Bangladesh,” added the release.

Later, JS Speaker met Mayor Councilor Humayun Kabir of the London Bar of
Croydon.

During the meeting, they discussed parliamentary activities, activities
of the London Bar of Croydon and the celebration of Mujib Year.

Dr Shirin mentioned that there are opportunities for Bangladeshi
businessmen to invest in South London under Croydon Council.

The Speaker thanked the Mayor Councilor and in reply he invited the
speaker to visit the London Bar of Croydon.

Senior officials of the parliament were present, during the meeting among
others.
