DHAKA, Feb 24, 2020 (BSS) – The authorities of Dhaka University (DU)
decided to enroll students in the university in line with the existing
admission test directives like previous years.

The decision came from the academic council meeting held at the Senate
Building of the university with DU Vice-Chancellor Prof M Akhtaruzzman in the
chair this afternoon.

It was decided that the DU authority will enroll students through the
existing admission tests system like the previous years, said DU sources.

DU is an autonomous higher educational institution and it has own system to
enroll the students, the sources added.

Earlier on February 13, the University Grants Commission (UGC) decided to
hold a uniform admission test for all public universities from the next
academic year of 2020-2021 to reduce sufferings of students and their
guardians.

As per the decision, the test will be simultaneously held at all
universities on a same day instead of the existing system under which
students need to go to different universities across the country for the
entrance examinations.

As of now, Dhaka University and Bangladesh University of Engineering and
Technology (BUET) took their decision of not adopting UGC’s directives.

Chittagong University and Jahangirnagar University did not confirm their
participation in the process.
