ICRC-DUJA-SEMINAR
Meeting on OSV held at DU
DHAKA, June 11, 2018 (BSS) – An orientation on International Committee of
the Red Cross and Experience Sharing on Other Situations of Violence (OSV)
programme was held at Dhaka University on Sunday.
The International Committee on Red Cross (ICRC) and Dhaka University
Journalists’ Association (DUJA) jointly organised the event at Abdul Matin
Virtual Class Room on the campus.
ICRC prevention and communication manager Anna Schaaf, journalist Julfikar
Ali Manik, ICRC communication officer Raihan Sultana, DUJA president ARM
Asifur Rahman and its general secretary Mahmudul Hasan Nayon were, among
others, present on the occasion.
Anna Schaaf said ICRC is working throughout the world, including
Bangladesh, independently and neutrally ensuring humanitarian protection and
assistance for victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence.
Julfikar Ali Manik, correspondent of the New York Times in Bangladesh,
shared his experience on reporting and gathering news on a crisis situation
or violence.
ICRC distributed certificates among 34 campus reporters who participated in
the function.
After the function, an iftar mahfil was held at the DUJA office room at TSC
of the university.
