Govt. working to include educational institutions in MPO: Nahid

DHAKA, June 11, 2018 (BSS) – Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today
said the government is working to enlist educational institutions in the
Monthly Payment Order (MPO).

“Although MPO issue is not mentioned in the budget, we would be able to
enlist educational institutions in MPO from block allocation,” he told a
function in the conference room of the Education Ministry, an official
release said.

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI)
handed over two microbuses to Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust.

Nahid said Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust has been formed to
provide financial supports to meritorious students of poor family to continue
their studies.

At present, 40 percent students are getting stipend facilities, he said
adding the government is taking different affirmative policy action including
introducing stipend programme to check student’s drop-out rate.

Secretary of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Division Md Sohrab
Hossain, Managing Director of Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust
Nurul Karim and President of FBCCI Md Shafiul Islam, among others, addressed
the function.
