DHAKA, June 11, 2018 (BSS) – The National Housing Authority (NHA) is
building 2,600 flats for the poor and mid-income people at Mirpur in the
capital.
The flats are being constructed under two projects – Swapnonagar-1 and
Swapnonagar-2 – in Mirpur area, an official release said.
Construction work of Swapnonagar-1 project is going to be completed while
the construction work of Swapnonagar-2 continues in full swing.
Most of the flats of the projects have already been sold out, the release
said.
Some 300 flats are yet to be sold while the NHA authority floated
advertisement for selling these flats. The NHA has already received about 450
applications to this end.
Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain visited the
project sites today to oversee the progress of construction of the flats.
Two treatment plants for waste management and water purification are
being constructed at the project sites.
Officials involved in setting up the treatment plants said after
treatment of waste water, a huge volume of water could be drink while the
rest amount could be used in household works like washing cars and using
water in gardens.
Biogas and organic fertiliser will be produced using the household
wastes. The biogas will be used for cooking and the fertiliser will be sold,
they said.
Later, Mosharraf visited two lands of the NHA. Residential flats will be
built for the poor and mid-income people on one of the lands of 40 acres
while a planned city will be built on another land of 100 acres.
