Stocks close flat on DSE
DHAKA, June 11, 2018 (BSS)-Stocks witnessed a dull session on Monday as the major indices of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed mixed on the day.
In the port city, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) maintained downward trend as its CSE All Share Price Index-CAPSI witnessed a marginal fall.
Market turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Tk 450.71 crore on the DSE. The bourse traded a total of 7.89 crore shares on the day.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, gained 3.15 points to settle at 5,326.44 over the previous session.
However, the DS30 index, comprising blue chips, settled at 1952.98, losing 1.08 points and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 1.41 points to close 1228.46.
Out of 338 issues traded, 137 closed higher, 157 closed lower and 44 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Top five gainers on the day were Popular Life Insurance, Aramit Limited, Libra Infusion, Sim Tex, Mercantile Bank Limited 1st Mutual Fund and Pharma Aids while top five losers were Shyampur Sugar, Central Insurance, Eastern Lubricants, Zeal Bangla Sugar and Meghna Condensed Milk.
In the port city, CSE also closed downward as the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI – shed 21.96 points to settle at 16595.
The losers beat the gainers as 104 issues closed lower, 74 higher and 33 remained unchanged on the CSE.
CSE traded 32.99 lakh shares and mutual fund units worth more than Tk 10.86 crore in turnover.
