Orphans, destitute children to get food every month in Mujib Year

DHAKA, Feb 18, 2020 (BSS) – Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs will distribute foods among orphans and destitute children every month during the Mujib Year.

This was informed at the 9th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the ministry at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban here today.

Committee Chairman Abdul Matin Khasru chaired the meeting while Committee members Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq, Md Shamsul Haque Tuku, Md Abdul Majid Khan, Md Shahiduzzaman Sarker, Shameem Haider Patwary, Gloria Jharna Sarker and Begum Rumeen Farhana attended the meeting.

A report on yearlong programmes of the ministry during the Mujib Year was submitted in the meeting.

During the Mujib Year, seminars will be arranged at three months intervals on the role of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in settlement of the maritime boundary, resolving enclave crisis, Agartala Conspiracy Case, Mass Upsurge of 1969 and General Election of 1970.

It was informed in the meeting that all programmes of National Legal Aid Day 2020 on April 28 will be dedicated to Bangabandhu, measures will be taken to preserve the chair and other things used in court by Sheikh Lutfar Rahman, father of Bangabandhu.

The committee suggested holding discussions on assassination of Bangabandhu, heinous Indemnity Ordinance, role of Bangabandhu in formulating a unique Constitution in 1972 within a very short period after the independence and role of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in enhancing the status of parliamentary standing committee.

Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division Secretary Naren Das, Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwar and senior officials of the ministry and the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were present at the meeting.
