‘No alternative to sports for drug-free society’

RANGPUR, Feb 18, 2020 (BSS) – Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud today said there is no alternative to sports
for freeing the country from drugs and save the society from moral erosion.

“The students should concentrate on sports as well as studies to stay
away from drug addiction, militancy, terrorism and social media addition for
their physical and mental tranquility and development to flourish latent
talent,” he said.

The RpMP Chief said this while addressing the launching ceremony of the
Inter House Annual Sports Competitions-2020 of RCCI Public School and College
in the city as the chief guest.

The authority of the college, being run by Rangpur Chamber of Commerce
and Industry (RCCI), organised the sports competitions for students followed
by prize giving ceremony.

President of RCCI and Chairman of the Governing Committee of RCCI Public
School and College Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu presided over the function.

Earlier, the chief guest inaugurated the sports competitions by hoisting
of the national flag and releasing balloons amid huge festivity.

Later, students of the educational institution displayed colourful march-
past and physical exercise.

The chief guest appreciated charming display of march-past, physical
exercise and wearing dresses by students of the institution in spirit of the
Mujib Year, Language Movement and the War of Liberation.

“Along with studies and regular practices of sports and exercise, the
students should nurture the ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman to realise his dream to build a prosperous Sonar Bangla,” he
said.

The RCCI President urged students for regular practice of sports and
exercise to become physically stronger and mentally sound along with studies
to properly flourish their talents, potentials and abilities.

Later, the chief guest distributed prizes among the winners of different
sports events in the prize giving ceremony.

Senior Vice-president of RCCO Mostoba Hossain Ripon, its Vice-president
Monjur Ahmed Azad, its former and incumbent directors, teachers, students,
guardians, civil society members and local elite were present.
