Zimbabwe reaches 291-7 against BCB XI in practice game

DHAKA, Feb 18, 2020 (BSS)- Visiting Zimbabwe recovered from a middle order collapse to reach 291-7 on the first day of the two-day practice match against BCB XI at BKSP on Tuesday.

Opting to bat first, Zimbabwe made a decent start with their openers
Prince Masvaure and Kevin Kasuza adding 105-run for the opening stand.

The BCB XI was comprised with the six players who were the part of
Bangladesh Under-19 World Cup winning side and they got a reality check how
tougher the senior level cricket would be. However, as the Zimbabwe openers
got going smoothly, BCB XI captain Al-Amin Hossain broke through with the
wicket of Masvaure who made 45.

Under-19 player Shahadat Hossain, who is mainly batsman but showed his
off-spin capability by taking out captain Craig Ervine for 10.

Another Under-19 pacer Shariful Islam further derailed Zimbabwe with the
wicket of Brian Mudzinganyama (17) before Shahadat further dented them,
dealing double blow as he claimed the wicket of Regis Chakabva (13) and
Tinotenda Mutumbodzi (0) in three balls.

Zimbabwe’s situation worsened further when opener Kasuza was trapped
run-out after making team’s highest 70. He struck a dozen of boundaries in
his 130-ball knock.

With Zimbabwe leaving at 177-6, Carl Mumba and Timcyan Maruma shared 49-
run before Marum was out on 34.

Mumba then got Ainsley Ndlovu in company and combined for a 71-run for
an undefeated eighth wicket stand. Mumba was not out on 54 while Ndlovu was
on 25.

Shahadat Hosain claimed 3-16 while Al-Amin snapped up 2-40.
