RANGPUR, Feb 16, 2020 (BSS) – University teachers today urged young generations to follow human virtues of nuclear scientist and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s husband Dr. M A Wazed Miah to become honest citizens with patriotic zeal.
Teachers of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) made the call in a
brief discussion after placing wreaths at the grave of Dr. Wazed in village
Fatehpur Laldighee in Pirganj upazila of the district to celebrate his 79th
birthday.
Earlier, led by Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah,
teachers and officials of the university placed wreaths and offered Fateha
and munajats seeking divine blessings for departed soul of Dr. Wazed and
welfare of his family members.
Later, officials of Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association (BRUTA),
Dr. Wazed Research and Training Institute, BRUR units of the Officers’ and
Employees’ Associations and other organisations placed wreaths at the grave
to pay due respect to the nuclear scientist.
General Secretary of BRUTA and Provost of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman Hall Tabiur Rahman Prodhan, Director of the Institutional Quality
Assurance Cell of the university Professor Dr. Md. Nazmul Haque, Dean of the
Faculty of Life and Earth Science and Proctor of the university Md. Atiur
Rahman were present.
After the Johr prayers, the teachers, students, officials and employees of
BRUR took part in a milad mahfil arranged at the university’s central Jam-e-
Mosque on the campus and sought divine blessings for departed soul of the
nuclear scientist.
The academics termed Dr. Wazed as a completely honest citizen with
incomparable human qualities while recalling diverse aspects of the life,
works and contributions of the nuclear scientist to national development on
the occasions.
Professor Kalimullah said Dr. Wazed always followed ideals of Father of
the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and worked accordingly to
realise the dream of Bangabandhu through building a developed Sonar Bangla.
