Govt to construct 58,000 wash block s in primary schools

SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 11, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossen today said the government has set a target of constructing 58,000 wash blocks in the next five years to enhance toilet facilities for checking possible health hazard of the primary school students.

“The government has set a target to construct 58,000 wash blocks at the primary schools across the country in next five years under Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP-4),” he said while responding to a starred question made by Jatiya Party (JP) lawmaker M Mujibul Haq of Kishorganj-3 in the House here.

The programme is going on in 2019-20 to construct 8,000 wash blocks and each block comprises three toilets, two urinals along with a foot wash and a basin.

Meanwhile, he said, 28,500 wash blocks have already been constructed at the primary schools under the third Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP-3).
