Mumbai Mayor’s Cup chess conclude

DHAKA, June 10, 2018 (BSS) – IM Abu Sufian Shakil became 32nd and GM Ziaur Rahamn became 34th in the 11th Mumbai Mayor’s Cup International Chess Tournament-2018 concluded at Mumbai in India today.

IM Shakil and GM Zia earned 6.5 points each out of 10 games. CM Chanchal Kumer Ghosh became 54th with 6 points, CM Sohel Chowdhury became 73rd and Md. Jamal Uddin became 90th with 5.5 points each. Anisuzzaman Jewel became 124th with 4.5 points, Shahnaz Mohammad Faruque became 144th, Mezanur Rahman became 148th and Avik Sarker became 152nd with 4 points each.

The 10th or last round games were held today (Sunday) afternoon. In last round: IM Shakil beat CM Sohel, GM Zia drew with Raja Rithvik of India, CM Chanchal beat Navalgund Niranjan of India and Jamal beat Gokhale Rishab Chandrashekhar of India.

GM Amonatov Farrukh of Tajikistan became champion and GM Pruijssers Reoland Netherlands became runner-up with 8.5 points each.

A total of 2016 players from 18 countries, including 21 grandmasters, two women grandmasters, 19 international masters and 7 women international masters, took part in the event.
