CDBA election on Feb 10

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 8, 2020 (BSS) -The annual election of Chattogram District
Bar Association (CDBA) will be held on Monday with three panels contesting
the election.

Election commission sources said all preparation, including
printing of ballot papers have been completed and candidates have been urged
to obey the election rules strictly.

Chief election commissioner Advocate Subash Chandra Lala told BSS that they
are trying their best to present a fair election before the lawyers.

He said they have finalized the total arrangement to conduct the polls as
per aspirations of the lawyers and urged the respective candidates to obey
the election rules strictly.

Three panels, Awami League and pro-liberation forces backed Chattagram
Sommilito Ainjibi Somonnoy Parishad, progressive and left leaning Somomona
Ainjibi Sangsad and pro BNP-Jamaat backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya
Parishad are vying for 19 posts in the election this year.

CDBA sources said a total of 42 candidates are vying for the posts of 19
office-bearers including 10 executive committee members in the election.

Sayed Muktar Ahmed from Sommilito Ainjibi Somonnoy Parishad, Mohammad
Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury from Somomona Ainjibi Sangsad and Mohammad Enamul
Hoque from Ainjibi Oikya Parishad are contesting for the post of President.

Besides, Abul Hossain Mohammad Ziauddin from Somonnoy Parishad, Tohidul
Munir Chowdhury Tipu from Somomona Sangsad and Mohammad Abdus Sattar Sarwar
from Oikya Parishad are in the race for the post of General Secretary.

Voting will begin at the CDBA Auditorium at 9 am and continue till 4 pm
without any break, the sources said.

A total of 4600 lawyers are eligible to exercise their rights of franchise
in the election.

Two candidates including one for General Secretary are contesting
independently.
