DHAKA, 9 AUG. 2017 (BSS) – Over 1300 books on the life and works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman have so far been published at home and abroad, according to a book published by the Bangla Academy.

Most of the books on Bangabandhu have been published in Bengali and English languages. A good number of books have also been published in other languages, including Chinese, Japanese, Italy, Germany and Swedish.

`Bangabandhu Bishayok Granthapanji’, written by Abu Mohammad Delowar Hossain and published by the Bangla Academy in 2014, named over 1000 books on Father of the Nation. Besides, 300 books were also published in last three years, taking the total number to 1300.

Hossain divided the books into 16 categories. These include language movement, Agartala case, uprising of 1969, liberation war and politics, administration and foreign policy of Bangabandhu.

The books also include memories of bangabandhu, historic documents, essays, stories and novels, poetries, biographies and books for children.

“I do not know about any other leader than Bangabandhu on whom so many books were published”, Dhaka University Emeritus Professor Anisuzzaman told BSS.

He said the books written on Bangabandhu proves how people of the country love and respect him.

“I hope more books will be published in future”, he said.

Delowar wrote in the preface of his book Bangabandhu Bishayok Granthapanji that at least 67 books on dignified life and noble works of Bangabandhu have been written in English language and the information about all these books were collected from Dhaka, Rajshahi, Jahangirnagar and Chittagong universities and from Bangla Academy and Central Public Library.

Over three hundreds publishing house printed these books. The major publishing houses include Agami prokashani, UPL, Mawla Brothers, Somoy Prokashani, Parijat Prokashani, Parle, Annesha, Anno Prokash, Hakkani, Pathok Samabesh, Bornayon, Anupom, Protick, Mira Prokashono, Jaggriti and Bangla Academy.

Prominent poet Habullah Sirazi said it is our great pleasure that so many books on Bangabandhu have been published. These books would benefit us and the new generation.
