BNP spreading falsehood over Dhaka city polls: Hanif
DHAKA, Feb 1, 2020 (BSS) – Castigating BNP leaders for spreading falsehood centering the Dhaka city corporations’ polls, Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif today said that the party has resorted to lodging complaints sensing their defeat in the polls.
“The city corporations’ polls for Dhaka north and south were held in a peaceful manner today compared to any past election. Sensing their defeat in the polls, BNP is now trying to lodge complaints beforehand centering the elections,” he told a press conference held at AL President’s political office in city’s Dhanmondi area.
About the beating incident of BNP workers, he said no specific complaint has so far been received in this regard.
“It is assumed that BNP activists or workers did not come to the polling centers due to their weak organizational structure,” he said.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir spread shameless lies about polls through media, he said, asking the people not to pay any heed to such complaint and stay away from being confused.
AL joint general secretaries Dipu Moni, Dr Hasan Mahmud and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, organizing secretaries BM Mozammel Haque, SM Kamal Hossain and Mirza Azam and senior leaders were present at the press conference.
