RCMC launches year-long Mujib Year celebrations

RANGPUR, Jan 29, 2020 (BSS) – Rangpur Community Medical College (RCMC) has launched year-long colourful celebrations of the Mujib Year-2020 marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

With hoisting of the national flag amid rendering of the national anthem on Tuesday, Professors, teachers, students and high-ranking officials of the institution inaugurated the celebrations in its campus by releasing pigeons and colourful balloons.

Currently, more than 750 MBBS and Dental students, including 350 foreign students from different countries, are studying in the Rangpur Community Medical College and Rangpur Dental College, both are sister concerns of the Rangpur Group.

Chairman of the Rangpur Group Nilu Ahsan Sarker and its Managing Director
Nazmul Ahsan Sarker elaborately discussed the year-long grand celebration
programmes and directed all concerned to make it successful.

Moderated by Professor of RCMC Dr Syed Mamunur Rahman, its Principal Prof
Dr. Afroza Bulbul Akhter, Deputy Managing Director of Rangpur Group Ashraful
Alam Al Amin and its Director Major (Retd) Md. Nasim Uddin addressed the
launching function.

Former Principal of Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College and Director of
the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR)
Prof Dr. Hamidul Haque Khondker exhibited the Mujib Barsho logo in the
function.

On the inaugural day of the year-long celebration programmes, Principal
Afroza Bulbul Akhter unveiled banner of the year-long Mujib Year celebration
programmes and Bangabandhu Corner in the Duplex Library of the RCMC while
Ashraful Alam Al Amin unveiled plaque of the Portrait of Bangabandhu and
design of its altar on the college campus.

The students, teachers, officials and employees of all sister concerns of
Rangpur Group like RCMC, Rangpur Dental College, Rangpur Community Medical
College Hospital, Doctors Community Hospital (Pvt) Ltd, Rangpur Community
Nursing College, Laser Dental Care and Implant Centre, Rangpur Housing
Limited, Anan Footwear and Leather Goods Ltd, Ahshan Trading Co. Ltd, Mam
Health Care Ltd and guests were present.

Vice-principal of RCMC Prof Dr. MMA Wadud will conduct his responsibilities
as the Chief Coordinator of all sub-committees formed for ensuring smooth
celebrations of the birth centenary and Mujib Year in a befitting manner.

The year-long celebration programmes include Bangabandhu Football
Tournament, Bangabandhu Cricket Tournament, Bangabandhu Badminton Tournament,
Bangabandhu Chess Tournament, Cultural Week and Debate Competitions.

Rendering patriotic songs, dances, poem recitation, staging of solo dramas,
debate competitions and discussions will be arranged on Bangabandhu, the War
of Liberation and Independence.

Besides, the programmes include publication of souvenirs, banners, festoon,
wall magazines, setting up of portrait of Bangabandhu and altar, Bangabandhu
Library Corner in the RCMC Bhaban and collection of 2,000 books for the
library.

The celebration programmes of the birth centenary on march 17 next
including Ananda Rally with horse and bullock-driven carts, rickshaws, hand
mikes, band party, placing wraths at the mural of Bangabandhu, releasing gas
balloons, white pigeon, cutting cakes, bearing placards, festoons, national
flags, wearing T-shirts and caps and other programmes.

Talking to BSS, Deputy Managing Director of Rangpur Group Ashraful Alam Al
Amin said the birth centenary celebration programmes have been chalked out in
accordance of the directives of Health Ministry and the Directorate of Health
Education.
