Atiqul hopes for competitive Dhaka city polls on Feb 1

DHAKA, Jan 28, 2020 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Atiqul Islam today expressed his optimism that the Dhaka City Corporations’ poll, slated for February 1, will be held in a free, fair and competitive manner.

“I’m optimistic. I hope that the upcoming polls will be held in a free, fair and competitive manner on February 1,” he told a view-exchange meeting with leaders of ‘Muktijuddher Chetonar Shangbadik Forum’ at Jatiya Press Club in the capital.

Aiming to build a corruption-free Bangladesh as per the wish of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Atiqul said if elected in the coming polls, he will work sincerely and responsibly for overall development of Dhaka North in the days to come.

He urged electorates to cast their votes in favour of ‘Boat’ on February 1 to continue the ongoing development spree of the country.

With the Daily Observer Editor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury in the chair, it was attended, among others, by lawmaker and journalist Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman and Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Abul Kalam Azad.

Besides, JPC President Saiful Alam and Journalist-leaders Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan, Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Omar Faruk, Shaban Mahmud, Sohel Haider Chowdhury and Shahed Chowdhury were present on the occasion.
