Ansar honored Ruman Sana by promoting Lance naik

DHAKA, Jan 28, 2020 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party has honored to its sportsman archer Ruman Sana by promoting him to the position of Lance naik.

The Ansar and VDP promoted him as his rewards for qualifying directly in
the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, winning gold medal in Asian Archery
Championship and winning three gold in the men’s singles, men’s team event and mixed team event in the 13TH SA Games.

Major General Kazi Sharif Kaikobad, director general of Bangladesh Ansar
and VDP, gave Lance naik batch to the country’s top archer Ruman Sana through
a formal reception ceremony held today (Tuesday) at Ansar and VDP’s
headquarters.

The Ansar and VDP also distributed cash award of Taka 33.25 lakh among
their sportsmen who took part in the 13th SA Games. Among the 144 sportsmen,
Ansar won eight gold, 13 silver and 47 bronze medals in singles and team
events in the SA Games.

Taka one lakh, Taka 75,000.00 and Taka 50,000.00 cash awards were given in
the singles event of gold medal winners. Among them, Ruman Sana received cash
award of Taka 1.80 lakh, the highest prize money among the medal winner
sportsmen of Ansar and VDP in the SA Games.

In his immediate reaction, Ruman Sana said, “The prize money is huge
motivational for a middle class family like us … hence forth I will able to
draw handsome salary after getting the promotion as lance naik and able to
make my mother treated well and contribute to the family.”

Ansar and VDP Director General Major General Kazi Sharif Kaikobad said,
“Sports loving Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s special favor inspired us …
we give recognition to the sportsman for their success each year and today
they were given reception for their outstanding success in SA games,
especially Ruman Sana, who made the country proud in the foreign soil in many
occasions.”

He also hoped that the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP will achieve successes in
the upcoming Bangladesh Games.

Bangladesh Ansar and VDP’s additional Director General Brigadier General
AKM Asif Iqbal, Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) vice-president and
Bangladesh Women’s Sports Association president Mahabub Ara Gini, BOA Deputy
Secretary Generals Ashikur Rahman Miku and Asaduzzaman Kohinoor were present,
among others, in the ceremony.
