DHAKA, Jan 28, 2020 (BSS) – Counter Terrorism Unit of Dhaka Metropolitan
Police (DMP) arrested one member of the banned militant outfit Ansar-al-Islam
also known as Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) from city’s Jatrabari area today.
Law enforcers also seized one laptop and mobile phone from the possession
of Mohammad Omar Faruk alias Afsar, 30, who is the chief of Dawati branch of
Ansar-al-Islam.
Counter Terrorism unit sources said the detained Omar Faruk, one of the
policymakers of the Ansar-al-Islam, was accused in a case filed with
Jatrabari police station.
During the primary interrogation, police came to know that he joined
Ansar-al-Islam in 2014 and imparted trainings to about 50 members of Ansar-al
Islam in Dhaka and Chattogram.
